Port Blair, May 14: The South Andaman District Police has once again showed its mettle in curbing down the menace of illegal activities in the district and succeeded in apprehension of 03 persons for involvement in prostitution.

On May 13, 2024, Shri Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, reported to PS Paharagaon followed by direction received from senior officers based on reliable information. The information was received that Smti Soma Mondal was allegedly running a brothel in a rented house at Dollygunj. Acting on this information, a raiding team comprising Miss Anushtha Kalia, IPS (P), SI Sudhir Kumar, HC MS Anil Kumar, PCs T. Venkateshwar Rao, Lendha Horo, Vinod, R. Devika, V A Prabhakaran, and Abhay Kumar Yadav of PS Pahargaon along with independent witnesses was formed.

The raiding team along with independent witnesses conducted a raid on the rented residence at Dollygunj. During the raid, Soma Mondal, Rinku Jana and M. Farida Bibi were found indulging in immoral activities. During raid, sufficient evidence was collected indicating the involvement of the three women in acts of prostitution. Further, all three women confessed to their involvement in the acts of prostitution. All three were arrested on the spot under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 after observing all codal formalities.

This successful operation is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement in combating immoral trafficking. The raids took place under the supervision of Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police South Andaman District. South Andaman District Police will continue stringent actions against the wrong-doers in future too.
