Port Blair, May 16: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands extended heartfelt felicitations to two remarkable women of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, who have brought immense pride to the Islands through their extraordinary achievements.

Smt. K. Chellammal, an organic farmer from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, was recently honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri Award for her exceptional contributions to organic coconut plantation.

Miss Zohra Banu secured an impressive 469th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and has inspired thousands of students of these Islands.

Addressing a gathering at the A&N State Cooperative Union Conference Hall, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma lauded both Smt. K. Chellammal and Miss Zohra Banu, stating that they have not only brought honour to the Islands but have also showcased the talent and potential of Andaman & Nicobar on national and international platforms. He said that the islanders are proud of them and they have set a remarkable example for several generations to follow.

The felicitation ceremony, held at the A&N State Cooperative Union Conference Hall today, was attended by a large number of women.

Mr. M. Veeranna, Director of A&N State Cooperative Union welcomed the gathering.

Prominent women leaders Smti. Shanta Laxman Singh and Smti. Ratna Kannan also attended the programme and expressed their admiration and emphasized the achievements of Smt. K. Chellammal and Miss Zohra Banu serve as inspiration for the entire community, especially women.

Dr. Nagesh Ram, Principal of A&N State Cooperative Union, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the awardees and affirming their significance in motivating and uplifting the Islands' population.
