Port Blair, May 25: A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS in the conference hall of the District Office South Andaman to review the arrangements made for the Counting of votes on June 4 for the Elections held for the ANIPC on April, 19, 2024.

Initiating the meeting, the RO, at the outset, urged the participants to ensure smooth conduct of Counting at the JNRM Counting Centre, earmarked for Counting of Votes for the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency on June 4, 2024. He directed the officials to complete all the required arrangements at the Counting Centre well in advance to enable the RO’s Office to start the Counting Process in time under the supervision/presence of the General Observer appointed for the purpose.

He said, officials entrusted with different tasks at the Counting Centre must adhere to the Counting guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India in letter & spirit and urged them to execute their work with utmost sincerity and responsibility so that the counting of votes is completed in a transparent & flawless manner in ANIPC without leaving any scope for complaint from any corner.

The RO informed that adequate measures will be put in place for the dissemination of results on completion of every round of Counting. He said, apart from social media platforms, the results will be announced through public address system at designated places and it will also be screened on LED monitors to be installed at Netaji Stadium.

Acknowledging the co-operation of all during the smooth conduct of election in ANIPC, the RO urged for similar support/co-operation from all for the smooth conduct of counting votes as well in A&N Islands on June 4, 2024. The Officials from NIC, DoT, Electricity, Nodal Officers related to Election and all other line Departments associated with Counting related assignments attended the meeting.
