Diglipur, May 29: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project (Rural) Diglipur and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) of North and Middle Andaman today organized an awareness programme on Child Rights with a significant event at the Community Hall, Fisheries Jetty, Durgapur, Diglipur. The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about child rights and the collective responsibilities of individuals and stakeholders to uphold these rights.

Shri Aditya Kumar Asthana, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur who was the chief guest remarked that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment, free from discrimination, violence, and exploitation.

Dr. H.M Sidharaju, Chief Medical Officer, Diglipur spoke on ‘Health Care is Fundamental Right’, ‘Ensuring Access for Every Child’. They highlighted the various challenges faced by children in the society and discussed effective measures to overcome these issues, emphasizing the pivotal role of community participation and proactive governance.

Smt. Indira Devi, Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Project (Rural) Diglipur also spoke on the occasion. Various events were organised during the event including Skit by Anganwadi Workers on Child Right’s Day and prizes were distributed to the participants.

Earlier, Ms. T. Sunita, Protection Officer (Child Care), DCPU, North & Middle Andaman welcomed the gathering and the programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Smt. Sandhya, Legal-cum-Probation Officer, DCPU, N&M Andaman.
