Port Blair, May 29: The fourth & final round of training to Counting Supervisors, Micro Observers, Counting Assistants and Counting Staff engaged to assist the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency in counting of votes for General Election-2024, was held in the DBRAIT auditorium here today. The Counting will take place in JNRM Counting Centre, earmarked for Counting of Votes for the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency on June 4, 2024. The Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS visited DBRAIT auditorium and interacted with the Counting Personnel.

Addressing the officials/staff engaged in Counting, the RO urged them to execute their roles & responsibility sincerely and diligently for the smooth counting of votes on June 4. He said, today marks the final round of training and by this time, all the counting personnel are well equipped with knowledge of step by step counting process as per the laid down guidelines of the ECI. The RO urged the Counting Personnel to execute the task assigned to each one in a professional manner. 

Pointing that the entire crux of the Election of ANIPC depends on transparent Counting of Votes, the RO urged the Counting Personnel to execute their work showing utmost professionalism, cordial manner and maintaining decorum inside the Counting Hall for the smooth completion of the entire Counting process. Highlighting the importance of hands on training, the RO said that, if any Counting personnel still need hands on training it can be arranged for them.

The RO further said that ‘Postal Ballot Papers’ will be counted first at 8am and thereafter, the counting of EVMs will be taken up at 8.30 am at JNRM on June 4, 2024 in two counting halls. Altogether, 28 counting tables will be set up and each counting hall will have 14 tables. He said, all the persons engaged in counting must reach the Counting Centre, JNRM before 5 am on June 4, 2024 as Counting Teams & Tables will be allotted after randomization at 5 am. He further said, bus facility will be provided for the convenience of those Counting Personnel who are in need of conveyance facility so that they can reach the Counting Centre, JNRM in time.

The Resource Person, Shri Som Naidu, DANICS Retd. also addressed the trainees on the occasion. The team of Master trainers led by Shri M. Papa Rao, assisted by Dr. A. Abraham imparted training to the counting personnel on counting of ‘Postal Ballot Papers’, on handling the polled EVMs, especially Control Unit and VVPAT machines on the counting day. The trainees also engaged themselves on hands on training for the Counting.
