Port Blair, May 28: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services organized a two-day Sterilization Camp at the Veterinary Dispensary at Swaraj Dweep on May 24 & 25, 2024. This initiative aimed to control the stray animal population in the area and promote responsible pet ownership. During the course of the camp, a dedicated team of Senior Veterinary Officers and support staff successfully performed 27 (19 dogs and 8 cats) Animal Birth Control (ABC) operations, which will help in reducing the number of stray animals and mitigate related issues such as overpopulation, spread of diseases, and aggression among animals.

The camp not only provided surgical services but also offered an opportunity for pet owners to gain valuable information about post-operative care and the benefits of sterilization. This event underscores the Department's commitment to animal welfare.
