Port Blair, May 29: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA) of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair organized a function on 28th June 2024 to bid farewell to Shri. A. Babuswamy, Technical Officer on his superannuation from service and to welcome Shri Kanishk Bhukar, Administrative Officer & Shri G. Prashanth, Finance & Account Officer along with five technicians namely Shri Abhishek Kumar, Smti Savita Kumari, Shri Ujjawal Kumar, Shri Brajesh Kumar & Miss Shivani Kumari on their appointment to ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.

Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director and Patron, CIARIEWA in his presidential address expressed his happiness over the contribution made by Shri. A. Babuswamy, Technical officer in assisting the scientific community, KVK & the Sports contingent of the institute in different occasions. He wished healthy retired life with family. He also said that the joining of Administrative and Finance officer has facilitated smooth functioning of the office and the technical staff presently under training, will surely be of immense help in assisting the scientists in farm and lab activities. He urged the staff to be punctual, disciplined, accept challenge, learn other subjects, greet each other, have sportsmanship and do hard work which is going to pay fruitfully in the long run of the career.  He concluded his speech assuring his fullest cooperation with his team of scientist of the institute. The outgoing and newly joined staff were honoured by the Patron, CIARIEWA on the occasion.

The Chief Guest of the day Shri. A. Babuswamy, Technical Officer expressed his happiness on the opportunities extended, shared his experiences and thanked one and all on the occasion. At the outset Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, General Secretary, CIARIEWA welcomed and introduced the house about the profile, length of service and significant achievement made in the respective field by Shri. A. Babuswamy, beside Administrative officer, Finance & Account officer, five technicians self-introduced themselves to the house.

Dr. Jai Sunder, Dr.Y. Ramakrishna, Dr. P.K. Singh, Dr. I. Jaisankar also spoke on the occasion acknowledging the contribution made by Shri. A. Babuswamy and exhorted the newly joined technicians to gain diversified knowledge existing in the institute.

Shri Kakesh Rao, Executive member, CIARIEWA proposed vote of thanks. Shri. Tanmai Paul, Executive Member, CIARIEWA coordinated the conduct of the programme.
