Port Blair, May 31: The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B.S Jaglan, IAS, today, held a meeting with Returning Officer, ANIPC, State Police Nodal Officer, A&N Islands, Superintendent of Police (South Andaman), to review the Counting arrangements at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair as per the instructions of Election Commission of India in connection with the General Election to Lok Sabha – 2024.

The CEO directed concerned Officers to make sure the availability of facilities/infrastructure, adequate storage space, water, toilets, first aid facilities, regular electricity supply, adequate fire tenders, communication, CCTV, display, randomization of counting staff, places to candidates/agents, visitor register, preparation of Form-20, 21-C & 21-E, 3 layer security arrangement, sealing of EVM & VVPAT, Storage of EVM/VVPAT & VVPAT Slips etc.  as per the SoP of Election Commission of India.

Further, he also directed that a public address system at Counting Centre should be available for dissemination of round wise information. The Media Centre, Communication Centre etc. shall also be made ready. For seamless transfer of data, necessary IT infrastructure should also be in place. The welfare of duty & counting staff and security personnel may also be taken care of.

The Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS and Ms Monika Bhardwaj, IPS informed that all necessary infrastructural/Security arrangements as per the Commission’s instructions have been made for smooth counting at the Counting Centre at JNRM, Port Blair.
