Port Blair, June 1: A Dry Run to review the arrangements made for the smooth counting of votes was held at the Counting Centre, JNRM here today. The Chief Electoral Officer, A & N Islands, Shri B. S Jaglan, IAS along with Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS and other officials related to Election, as a team visited the Counting Centre at JNRM and reviewed the Counting arrangements as per the instructions of Election Commission of India in connection with the General Election to Lok Sabha–2024. The Counting of votes will take place at the Counting Centre at JNRM from 8 am onwards on June 4, 2024.

The CEO and the team of official visited Counting Halls (1 & 2) wherein the RO informed about the arrangements put in place for the Counting of votes, seating arrangements for Candidates/Agents, Data Compilation Counter etc. and all other basic requirements such as public address system at Counting Centre for dissemination of round wise information, IT infrastructure for seamless transfer of data to ECI, measures taken for welfare of duty & counting staff and security personnel, uninterrupted power supply in the entire JNRM complex, communication facilities, CCTVs, security arrangements, first aid facilities, among others as per the Standard Operating Procedure of Election Commission of India.

The CEO also visited Media Centre and ascertained the facilities available for the media persons for proper dissemination of results after completion of each round during the Counting of votes. 

At the end of the visit, the CEO expressed his satisfaction regarding the necessary infrastructural/Security arrangements put in place by the Returning Officer, ANIPC as per the Commission’s instructions for the smooth counting at Counting Centre at JNRM, Port Blair.
