Port Blair, June 7: All the private hospitals and clinics have been informed that the Bio Medical Waste sent to GB Pant Hospital for disposal should be properly segregated at source level as per the latest Bio Medical Waste management guidelines. The segregated waste should also be certified regarding its content. Since, the Red, Blue and White bags are being sent to PBMC for disposal, all the contents of these bags should also be sterilised using Sodium Hypochlorite solution/ autoclave/ hydroclave/ microwave and adequately labelled. The dry and wet waste also needs to be sent separately to ensure adequate disposal.

This is for strict compliance, failing which, no Bio Medical Waste will henceforth be received by GBPH for disposal. A letter in this regard has already been sent to all private clinics and hospitals.
