Port Blair, June 7: A truck bearing Registration No. AN 01 P 1476 and two nos. of excavators one of make, TATA were seized by the revenue officials which were indulged in illegal earth cutting and transportation in violation of A & N Islands Minor Mineral Rules, 2012. Around 100 Cbm (approx.) of earth from land classified as Hilly situated at Sippighat Village recorded in favour of Kunal Kumar Paul, S/o Amarnath Paul and 25 Others was extracted and have been transported and dumped upon another land situated at Sippighat Village recorded in favour of Gulab Devi, W/o Puran Lall.

Under the sections of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulation 1966, a fine amount calculated at Rs. 1,10,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Ten Thousand Only) have been imposed upon the violators.

In yet another case one Shri Sashank Puria, S/o Late M. K. Puria, R/o Minie Bay has extracted approximately 100 Cbm without permission of Competent Authority from the land classified as hilly situated at Village Namunaghar.

Under the sections of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulation 1966, a fine amount calculated at Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand Only) have been imposed upon the violator.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has warned unscrupulous elements involved in illegal extraction and violation of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulation 1966 to desist from indulging in such acts in future failing which stern action would be taken against them.
