Port Blair, June 10: During an air surveillance sortie on 06 Jan 24, ANC’s air asset, a Coast Guard Dornier aircraft noticed a local fishing boat adrift towards the North eastern direction around 106 NM from Port Blair. The boat was identified as Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Infan Dhas with seven crew members onboard seeking assistance as the boat’s propulsion was not working.

Subsequently ANC’s ship, INS Kulish was diverted for rendering assistance to the fishing boat. Kulish arrived the position of IFB at 0330 hrs on 07 Jun 24.  During the preliminary engine inspection, the starter battery was found defective. The non-operational battery was replaced by a new battery from INS Kulish and engine running trials conducted onboard IFB were successful. Thereafter, the IFB was directed to return Port Blair under own propulsion.
