Port Blair, June 12: The Department of Education, A & N Administration organized a State Level Closing ceremony of Summer Camp under the aegis of Eco Club today in the premises of Government Senior Secondary School, School Line. The programme witnessed a thoughtful display of posters prepared by the students of the school, depicting various themes like planting trees, save water, reduce pollution, recycling of waste, etc. Under the theme ‘Ek Ped Meri Maa ke Naam’, the school students, teachers and community members planted saplings in the school campus.

Drawing competition on the said topic was also conducted among the students. Smti Sunita Sharma, Nodal Officer of School Summer Camp for Mission Life for this UT, while addressing the participants urged them to put their whole hearted efforts in building a sustainable future for the generations to come.

Earlier, Shri D. Rai, Vice Principal, GSSS School Line welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts taken by the Govt. of India to organize such a camp under the Eco Club to create awareness among school students towards environment related issues. Faculties from SIE also participated in the programme.

This programme was a part of the week-long summer camp being organized by ‘Eco Clubs for Mission LiFe’ on various themes identified by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. Various schools under the Education Department also conducted several events to mark the week-long celebration of World Environment Day from June 5 to 12, 2024.
