Port Blair, June 16: The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services is excited to announce a major development that will significantly enhance our operational capacity and service delivery. After a prolonged moratorium since 2008, the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, has officially approved the recruitment of new Police Constables (Fireman) and Police Constables (Driver).

This approval, detailed in letter dated 14 June 2024, allows for the filling of 51 vacant posts for Police Constable (Fireman) and 11 vacant posts for Police Constable (Driver) that have been lying vacant for less than five years. This pivotal decision marks a crucial step in addressing the personnel shortage that has impacted our service efficiency.

The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services, with a sanctioned strength of 336 Police Constables (Fireman) and 77 Police Constables (Driver), will greatly benefit from this recruitment. It will ensure that we are fully equipped to respond to emergencies and safeguard the well-being of the residents across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
