Port Blair, July 1: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder has addressed a letter to the Secretary (Health), A & N Administration, proposing the creation of a new post of Nutritionist at the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In the letter, Mr. Halder emphasizes the need for professional dietary counseling and nutritional support to enhance the health and well-being of the peoples of the islands. He highlighted that the inclusion of Nutritionists is imperative for addressing widespread nutritional deficiencies that lead to various health complications.

"With the rising incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, proper nutrition counseling becomes a crucial element in managing and preventing these conditions," said Halder.

He elaborated on the role of Nutritionists, saying, “Nutritionists, according to the proposal, would play a pivotal role in educating the population on healthy eating habits, food safety, develop personalized diet plans for patients and sustainable practices, thereby will foster a culture of health and well-being at A & N Islands”.

Halder urged the Administration for the creation of this post, emphasizing the importance in serving the people in our Islands.
