Port Blair, July 2: As part of the month long celebration of 75th Vanmahotsav 2024, an inaugural function was organized at Nature Park Interpretation Center (NPIC) yesterday during which, planting of fruit bearing/medicinal plants seedlings were taken up. Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (ANI) & Chief Wildlife Warden, A & N Islands planted saplings in the presence of the Senior Officers of the Department of Environment & Forests and the staff and children attached to Capstone Children Home, Bird Line.

The ceremonial plantation was taken up disseminating the message of planting trees to make the earth sustainable and healthy and to promote the importance of forests for maintaining ecological balance.

Later, the chief guest released the butterflies at the Butterfly Conservatory, NPIC. In addition to this, an awareness programme was organized for the children of Capstone Children Home, whereby field visit to different section of Nature Park and Interpretation Centre was organized for the children.   

Culminating the awareness programme, a drawing competition was organized on the topic ‘Save Wildlife’ wherein all the children participated encouraging them to think, explore and contributing towards wildlife conservation.
