Port Blair, July 2: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities on 01/07/2024, acting on specific intelligence input, a police team comprising SI P. Moideen Kutty, Head Constables S. Baroi and K. Venkateshwar Rao, and Constables Thangaraj, K. Rajendran, Srinivas Rao, and Amit Singh of PS Crime & Economic Offence conducted a raid on the house of Pramod Ram, son of the late Guruswamy, aged 47 years, a private worker residing in Naushad Colony, Bhatu Basti. They recovered 67 bottles of IMFL from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot following the due legal procedure, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law.

During the entire procedure of search and seizure, legal procedures under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Bharatiya Shakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, were followed by generating a hash value of the video recordings to prevent the evidence from any alterations. A hash value or function ensures data reliability by creating a unique "fingerprint"; any change in the data changes the hash value entirely. This was the first case registered following the procedures enacted through the new criminal laws by the PS Crime & Economic Offence under CID Unit.

Andaman and Nicobar Police continue its relentless detection to curb illegal activities and bring those responsible for such offenses to justice following the procedures of new criminal laws.
