Mayabunder, March 18: In view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election-2024, all the Arms & Ammunition License holders under North & Middle Andaman District have been directed to deposit their arms and ammunition at the respective Police Stations immediately. The arms and ammunition deposited will be released only after the completion of Lok Sabha Election-2024.

Port Blair, March 18: Due to technical reasons, the announced sailing schedule of the vessel MV Bharat Seema from Port Blair to Little Andaman on March 20, 2024 and her return voyage on the same day at 2100 hrs from Little Andaman to Port Blair has been cancelled. Little Andaman bound passengers those who are holding the tickets of MV Bharat Seema for March 20 sailing have been advised to cancel their tickets and get full refund.

Kamorta, March 17: On 14/03/2024, Shri. Devesh Chandra Shrivastva, IPS, Director General of Police A&N Police along with other senior officials; Shri Ajay Krishan Sharma, IPS, DIGP\ Headquarters, Ms. Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP Law & Order, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Sunny Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District and Shri Sandeep Lamba, DANIPS, DySP Fire embarked on a three days comprehensive field tour (March 14-16, 2024) of various Police Stations, Police Radio Stations, Fire Stations, Marine Police Operations Centre (Nancowrie) and LOP Tillangchong across the Nancowry group of islands in Nicobar District. They also visited Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Stations and interacted with the officers and staff for better liaison and co-ordination.

Port Blair, Mar. 17: Alongwith the rest of the country, the Election machinery in Andaman & Nicobar Islands has sprang into action with the Chief Election Commissioner of India holding Press Conference today and announcing General Elections to 18th Lok Sabha. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency (ANIPC) will be going to polls in the First Phase on April 19 (Friday).

The Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS informed that with the announcement of election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force with immediate effect. MCC will be applicable to all candidates, political parties and to the Union and State Governments and UT Administration, Commissions, Corporations, Committees etc. Any violations of these guidelines shall be strictly dealt with.

Port Blair, March 17: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule of General Election to Lok Sabha – 2024 and therefore Model Code of Conduct has become operational. The District Election Officer/Returning Officer is enforcing the Model Code of Conduct.

It is informed that as per section 171 B of Indian Penal Code, any person giving or accepting any gratification in cash or kind during election process, with a view to inducing any person to exercise his/her electoral right is punishable with imprisonment upto one year or with fine or with both.
