Port Blair, Feb 23: The District Industries Centre and Khadi and Village Industries Board are the implementing agency of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) throughout the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. As per PMEGP guidelines, the implementing agencies forward the online applications to the opted bank after due verification and scrutiny of the information and documents. The concerned bank takes the credit decisions for sanction of the loan to the eligible applicants and informs the applicant. As per guidelines, the applicant has to undergo prescribed Entrepreneurship Development Training before disbursement of the sanctioned loan.

Port Blair, Feb 23: The general public and consumers of the department is hereby informed that, on 24.02.2024 (Saturday), there will be a power outage in some areas of Port Blair and the South Andaman for a few hours, if necessary, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., for the urgent repair of Zerbra-I and Zebra-II Tie lines. However, the department is trying to make an effort to maintain the power supply consistent while working.

The inconvenience caused is regretted.

Port Blair, Feb 22: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to urgently repair/replace the TV Kulam Bridge and open it for the general public.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that the steel Bailey Bridge situated at the entrance of TV Kulam village, under the jurisdiction of Shivapuram Gram Panchayat, has been closed for public use due to its deteriorating condition. This closure has caused significant inconvenience to the residents, as it is a critical pathway for connectivity in the region.

Shri D Ayyappan, Secretary CPI (M) has condoled the sudden demise of Shri Badal Mridha, a Member of the CPI (M) and resident of Billiground today (23.02.2024) early morning at PHC Billiground.  He was 65 years. He is the younger brother of SR Mridha, Secretary, CPI (M) Middle Andaman Area Committee.

Ayyappan has conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.            

Port Blair, Feb 22: DG Rakesh Pal, AVSM, PTM, TM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard, accompanied by Mrs. Dipa Pal, President CGWWA, arrived Port Blair today. The Flag Officer is on a four day’s visit to these strategically important islands to over view ICG operational and development plans in A&N Islands.

Soon after his arrival the DGICG visited HQANC to interact with CINCAN and discussed various matters related to maritime security and safety. The discussion also focused on fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enhance overall maritime resilience and efficiency in Andaman & Nicobar.
