Diglipur, Jan 2: Acting on a tip-off, on 01/01/2024, SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat alongwith a team consisting of PCs Sushil Sarkar, Ranjit Biswas, Eileen and Subrato Biswas of PS Kalighat conducted jungle search at Taalbagan area.

The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 335 liters of illicit lehan, along with containers, various utensils, and timber materials used in the production process from two different locations of Taalbagan jungle. These materials were discreetly hidden at multiple locations within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Rebati Mandal, a senior leader of the Congress Party, resident of Harpatabad. He served diligently as an Ex-Member of Pradesh Council and contributed significantly to the political landscape of our Islands.

Minicoy, Jan 2: The Regional Station of ICAR-CIARI Port Blair conducted a 'Field Day-Pearl Millet Cultivation under Coconut Plantation' for the tribal youth of Lakshadweep Islands on December 30, 2023.  Dr. Chokkalingam, the principal of Government Polytechnic College was the chief guest. The chief guest in his address expressed his appreciation for the ICAR-CIARI for hosting the field day and demonstrating millet farming on the occasion.

Port Blair, Jan 1: With an aim to enhance local sports and cultural infrastructure, the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon'ble Lt. Governor of A & N Islands to construct a mini stadium at the renowned Vivekananda Ground in Vivek Nagar (Bachra Pahad), under Chouldari Panchayat.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Vivekananda Ground has been a central hub for sports, cultural, and social activities for local villagers and youths for several decades.
