Port Blair, Jan 8: The de-commissioning of Indian Naval Ships Cheetah, Guldar, and Kumbhir is scheduled on 11-12 Jan 2024 at Port Blair. The Andaman and Nicobar Command has extended an invitation to all ex-crew, who have served on any these ships whilst in commission. Port Blair, Jan. 8: Firing practice by Aircraft will be carried out on Jan. 10, 17 and 24 from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Safe flying height is 6000 feet AMSL. All concerned have been warned to keep themselves and their vessels/fishing boat away from the firing range during the mentioned date and time.

Katchal, Jan 7: On 27/12/23, two vigilant fishermen reported the presence of foreign nationals in the West Bay area of Katchal. In response, the anti-poaching team from PS Katchal promptly mobilized on 28/12/23. The operation resulted in the apprehension of 06 Myanmar Poachers on 28/12/2023, while few managed to evade capture within the dense jungle area. During intensive combing operation 02 more poachers were apprehended on 30/12/2023.

Port Blair, Jan 7: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter of insufficient parking facilities at GB Pant Hospital, the sole referral hospital in Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the GB Pant Hospital plays a crucial role in catering to the healthcare needs of the entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands and as a result, it witnesses a significant influx of patients, attendants, and other individuals on a daily basis. He said that the existing parking area at the hospital is limited and the recent closure of the TB ward parking area has further exacerbated the situation.

Model Senior Secondary School, Port Blair has brought laurel to the Islands by winning 3rd prize in the National Folk Dance competition held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The National Role Play and Folk Dance competition was held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha from 3rd to 6th January, 2024. The National Role Play and Folk Dance competition was organised by the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar under the programme National Population Education Project, a flagship programme of Govt. of India as an integral part of the quality improvement in schools.
