Port Blair, Jan 31: Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) vide notification no G.S.R 593(E) dated July 21, 2022 has notified the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management& Trans boundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2022 for effective utilization and management of Waste tyres through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regime as per guideline given at Schedule-IX of the Amended Rules.

An online Waste tyre EPR Portal has been developed by Central Pollution Control Board for registration of Producers, Recyclers and Retreaders as defined under the said rules.

Port Blair, Jan 31: With a view to promote good nutrition amongst the Islanders, the Directorate of Social Welfare will be organizing a ‘Food Mela’ at Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School from 3 pm to 8 pm on Feb.10,2024.

In this regard, the Directorate of Social Welfare has invited applications from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), NGOs, and Anganwadi workers to set up stalls to showcase varieties of mouthwatering and nutritious dishes.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma flagged off and inaugurated ‘Girls on Wheels’ at Mithkhari and Namunaghar areas on 29/01/2024 at 10.00 am. The initiative received tremendous response as 55 girls enrolled for the initiative.

Under ‘Girls on Wheels’ initiative the Member of Parliament aims at teaching two wheeler driving to girls of Mithakhari and Namunaghar areas so that all girls willing to learn driving can acquire driving skills free of cost in a safe way under proper guidance.

Port Blair, Jan 30: The Cataract & Eye Care Camp organized by Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Port Blair, has reached a significant milestone, having successfully operated about 250 cataract cases within three weeks with the support of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NPCVBI) and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). The camp in second phase has continued the remarkable journey initiated by the first team of Ophthalmologists led by Dr. Anurag. The current team, led by Dr. Ashwani Meherda, Senior Consultant at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital (VMMC & SJH), has further brought a wealth of experience and expertise to the endeavor.
