Port Blair, Feb 1: The South Andaman District Police has succeeded in solving a blind burglary case within 24 hours showing professionalism resulting in the arrest and apprehension of accused person involved in the crime. On 29th Jan. 2024, a burglary case was reported at PS Aberdeen regarding burglary of gold ornaments worth around Rs. 15 Lakhs and cash Rs. 48,000 from the residents of complainant at School Line, Port Blair. On 26th Jan, the complainant and his family members went to his brother’s house as his brother went to Chennai for treatment. On 29th January, he was informed by the landlord that the lock of the door was broken. Immediately he reached as his home and found that gold ornaments and cash were stolen by unknown person from the Almirah.

Port Blair, Feb 1: Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM) today organised Abhinandan Samaroh in the presence of National President of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Shri. Hrinmay Pandya and National Vice President Shri. Sankari Mallesham. The Samaroh started with lighting of the lamp and giving floral tribute to Bharat Mata and Thengdi, founder of BMS.

Port Blair, Feb 1: As per the instructions of Election Commission of India, in view of the upcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024, a UT level awareness programme on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is underway to provide citizens with a firsthand experience of the voting process and familiarity with the machines. The awareness programme which is organised ahead of every General Election to Lok Sabha focuses on imparting knowledge about the basic features of EVMs and VVPATs, elucidating the step-by-step procedure of casting votes, and educating voters on how to verify their choices through the VVPAT slip. Awareness through physical demonstration fosters deeper understanding of EVM & VVPAT functionality and is instrumental in dispelling misconceptions, boosting voter confidence and ensuring a more informed and participative electorate.

Mayabunder, Feb. 1: As part of his 4-day visit to Mayabunder and Middle Andaman, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee reached Mayabunder on 31st January, 2024 morning. Rangalal Halder has highlighted a pressing issue to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration that revolves around the shortage of essential Ayurvedic medicines at the Ayush Unit of the Community Health Centre in Rangat.

Halder emphasizes that crucial medications, such as tablets for blood pressure, sugar, and other Ayurvedic essentials, are currently unavailable, causing distress to residents who rely on these medicines.
