Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today laid the foundation stone for Mini Community Hall at Ranchi Basti, Ward No.1, Namunaghar Gram Panchayat.

The work has been sanctioned under MPLAD funds, with an estimated cost of Rs, 28,42,792 by the Member of Parliament following demands raised by the residents, especially youths of the area.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Haj Committee of India, Mumbai has announced Haj 1445 (H) – 2024 (C.E.). The bonafide residents of A&N Islands desirous of performing Haj during the year 2024 have been requested to submit their application online themselves or they can also take the assistance of A&N State Haj Office. The A&N Islands State Haj Committee has also set up a E-Suvidha Kendra for assisting Hajis in the Online submission of HAF. Applicant must read the Guidelines for Haj-2024 carefully before filling Haj Application Form.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: A large number of complaints are being reported nationwide pertaining to illegal digital lending apps, which provide short term loans/ micro credits at exorbitant interest rates along with processing/hidden charges. These apps, which may not be Regulated Entities (RE) by RBI, target members of vulnerable and low income groups, and the borrowers, are asked to provide mandatory access to confidential personal data like contacts, location, photos/videos, in order to avail the loans.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: All left out Ration Card holders have been informed that the last date for e-KYC verification of Ration Card has been extended upto 29th February, 2024 for the benefit of the Ration Card holders.  The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has initiated the e-KYC process of every member present in the Ration Cards as per the directions of the Govt. of India.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: A five-day training programme on ‘Organic Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Technology’ concluded at ICAR-KVK, Sippighat. A total of 34 participants attended the training from different areas of the Islands. This training programme focused on growing mushrooms in urban and peri urban to generate self-employment among islanders.
