Port Blair, Sept. 25: The Swaraj Dweep Police launched the initiative Drug Free Tourism, at a ceremony held in P.S. Swaraj Dweep on 23rd Sept. 2023 followed by awareness rally and an essay competition for School students of GSSS Swaraj Dweep.

The Ceremony was attended by Zilla Parisad Member, Pradhans of Shyam Nagar and Radha Nagar, all head of offices present in Swaraj Dweep, managers and owners of Hotels and Resorts with representatives from Diving Community, tour operators, taxi drivers and auto drivers.

Port Blair, Sept. 25: Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a flagship scheme of the Govt. of India, launched on 23rd September, 2018, and is the world’s largest health assurance programme under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI. To mark the occasion of completion of 5 years of implementation of Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, the State Health Agency, A&N Islands observed ‘Ayushman Diwas’ at the lecture Hall of ANIIMS, Port Blair.  Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director, ANIIMS was the guest of honor. The programme was also attended by the Joint Secretaries of various National Health Programmes, students of Nursing College, faculty from ANIIMS and beneficiaries of the scheme among others.

Port Blair, Sept. 25: As part of the ensuing World Tourism Day, the Tourism Department of Andaman and Nicobar Administration in collaboration with Andaman & Nicobar Tour Operators Association (ANTOA), Nehru Yuva Kendra & Forest Deptt. organized a Trekking Expedition from Hope Town Jetty to Mount Manipur today. Ms. Rashida Bibi, Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Hope Town, who presided as the chief guest flagged off the Trekking Expedition in the presence of Shri M. Hema Rao, Up Pradhan, Shri Pitrus Kerketta, Sarpanch, Shri Hosea, Range Officer from the Forest Department, Shri Farooq Ahmed and Shri Shahid Ali, Officials from the Tourism Department.

Port Blair, Sept. 25: A Free Health Screening Camp was organized by Armed Police Unit, Andaman & Nicobar Police at Police Lines, Drill Hall, South Andaman on 23.09.2023, in association with MGM Health Care, Chennai. This initiative reaffirms the A&N Police’s unyielding commitment to the well-being and health of the community members and underscores our dedication to nurturing a healthier society.

Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shri. Leo Raju, 111 years, an old inhabitant of village Dollygunj, who passed away today at G B Pant Hospital. He prayed to the Almighty to give eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
