Port Blair, Jan 25: A meeting was held in the chamber of the Mission Director, UT Health Mission at Secretariat, Port Blair today (25.01.2024) afternoon in which the demands raised by the Andaman & Nicobar ASHA Workers Union (CITU) were discussed in detail with a delegation led by D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee.  The Union has brought to the notice of the Mission Director that a paltry amount of Rs. 2000 per month is being paid to the ASHA Workers in Andaman & Nicoabr Islands as Honorarium and re-iterated its demand for raising this amount to Rs. 10,000 per month at par with the ASHA Workers working in the union territory of Puducherry. The delegation of Union had also demanded substantial increase in various incentives and brought to the notice of the Mission Director that a number of incentives are not being paid to the ASHA Workers.  

Port Blair, Jan 25: The 14th National Voters Day with the theme 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure' was celebrated in A&N Islands today. To mark the Day, a UT level function was organized in TGCE auditorium in which the Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS, was the chief guest. EPIC to newly registered voters was also issued and pledge on NVD was administered by the CEO to the gathering in the presence of District Election Officer, South Andaman, Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Joint CEO, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, ADM (SA), Smti Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Officials of Election Department, students, BLOs and others.

Port Blair, Jan 25: An outstanding victory by a 25-member team of the ISMAA (Island Sqay Martial Art Association), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, as they acquired 50 medals (32 gold, 12 silver, and 6 bronze) and broke records by placing second out of 18 states that competed in the "24th National Sub Junior Cadets and Juniors Championship" held in Shiridi, Maharashtra, from January 18th to the 21st, 2024.

Port Blair, Jan 25: It has been reported that certain criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists, inimical to India may pose a threat to the safety of general public, dignitaries and vital installations by the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hand gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small size powered aircrafts, Chinese Lalten, quadcopters or even by para jumping from aircraft etc.

Hopetown, Jan 25: NABARD, Port Blair in a significant collaboration with the NGO 'WITH YOU', successfully organized a 21-day Micro-Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program focused on tailoring, fashion designing, and sewing machine repairing. The program, hosted in Hopetown community hall, was designed for 30 aspiring women entrepreneurs from rural villages, primarily targeting members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
