Denis Giles, the Editor of Andaman Chronicle is the first person from the Islands to have formally completed his Journalism from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore before starting the island-based daily newspaper. Before starting Andaman Chronicle, he has contributed to various national and international newspapers and magazines including TIME MAGAZINE.
He has been a conservationist and an activist since more than two decades, and has strongly advocated for the rights of the aboriginal tribes of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Apart from current affairs, Andaman Chronicle has been focussing on the environment, ecology and tribes of the Islands.
In the year 2023, Denis Giles created a platform called ‘Bageecha’, as an initiative of Andaman Chronicle to provide opportunity to talents to showcase their works. Bageecha since its inception has been actively involved with various NGOs and individuals in conducting educational programmes and social works, apart from hosting art exhibitions and innovative workshops for the betterment of the society.
