Port Blair, Oct. 29: The South Andaman District Police solved an attempt to ATM theft case within an hour with the apprehension of one Juvenile in conflict with law.

On 27/10/2020 at around 0600 hrs, a complaint was received from the Manager, HDFC Bank, Junglighat, Port Blair that the ATM installed at the main branch was vandalized by some miscreant.

On the receipt of information, immediately a team of PS Aberdeen comprising SI Satvir Singh, ASI Surya Narayan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PCs Sanjeeb Lakra and Sonu Yadav under Inspector Rahul SHO PS Aberdeen swung into action. On spot inspection, it was found that the ATM was partially damaged and the attempt to break the vault could not succeed. On scrutiny of CCTV footages installed at Bank premises and ATM centre, the movement of one suspect was traced. Simultaneously, the team started collecting intelligence from various sources. The Dog Squad was also called to the spot and with the help of Police Dog Badshah and his handler PC/332 Thobias Kerketta, the investigation team reached Goalghar and found a juvenile suspect. Upon questioning, he admitted his guilt and on admission, he was apprehended by Special Juvenile Police Officer of PS Aberdeen. The tools used for commission of crime were recorded from his possession. On further questioning, the juvenile disclosed that he had chosen this particular ATM because there were no security guards. All precautions and procedures were followed in handling the juvenile in conflict with law.

The PS Aberdeen succeeded in solving this sensitive case within an hour with sincere efforts made under the supervision of Shri. Narra Chaitanya, IPS, ASP (South Andaman) and under the overall supervision of Shri. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP South Andaman District.
