New Delhi, Nov. 3: Rashtriya Raksha University-RRU, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India is India’s premier public University in the domain of national security and policing. Rashtriya Raksha University celebrated the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and took the message of the ideals and greatness of independent India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel across the world.

On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr Bimal Patel addressed the programs organised to pay homage to the ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Patel in different parts of the globe. Dr Patel made his remarks during the online events organised by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Durban (South Africa) and Moscow (Russia). Dr Patel also participated in a radio program organised by the foremost community radio in Hindi language in Australia, SBS Hindi. During these programs, Dr Patel spoke about how Sardar Patel made an invaluable contribution in unifying our nation. As a ‘Founding Father of India’, Sardar Patel played a pivotal role in setting the foundation of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) during his tenure as the first Home Minister of Independent India. As the world continues to grapple with Covid-19, the lessons in imparting decisive leadership imparted by Sardar Patel in managing the situation of plague in Gujarat at that time continue to be extremely pertinent even today.

A digital interactive session was also organised by the Rashtriya Raksha University in the memory of Sardar Patel. This session was addressed by Shri Sanjay Joshi, Chief Manager and Additional Collector, Statue of Unity Project. Shri Joshi spoke in detail about the efforts made by Sardar Patel in unifying the country. Shri Joshi also spoke about how Sardar Patel set world-class benchmarks in delivering urban governance during his tenure as the Mayor of Ahmedabad city. This session was attended by participants from various parts of the country.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated annually on 31 October to pay tributes to the foremost nation-builder of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.
