Port Blair, Nov. 6: The Pradesh Congress Committee, Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the leadership of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC following the directions of AICC, New Delhi has organised Satyagraha and Upwaas programmes to observe “Kisan Adhikar Diwas” at Tushnabad junction and Wimberlygunj junction in South Andaman district on 31.10.2020 in a peaceful manner after following the COVID-19 guidelines/protocol.  Party workers which includes senior leaders, farmers and farm labourers, shop keepers, whole sale market, sundry employees from different places attended the programme to protest against the three Agriculture Bills passed by the NDA Government demanding the withdrawal of the Anti-Agriculture and Farm Bill which is against the interest of the crores of farmers and agriculture labourers in the country including A&N Islands. 

Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC and Member of Parliament, A&N Islands addressed the gathering at both the places and explained about the impact of the anti-bills launched by the NDA government without consent of the farmers and without due process of law. 

He said that with the introduction of this Anti Farmers Bills, the concept of Marginal Supporting Price (MSP) which provides supports from the government for strengthen the farmers agricultural products to grown up their income sources, will automatically affect to the farmers and thereafter, the Public Distribution System (PDS) being extended to the poor and marginal peoples for supplying food grains will also adversely affect for the public. The New law of Agriculture launched by the NDA government is nothing but to promote the big business houses and industrialists and the small and marginal farmers would not get any profit.

The PCC President also remembered that large number of farmers land were submerged into sea due to Tsunami during the year 2004 and the BJP Senior leader while visited Andaman had made commitment that if the BJP come into power in the centre, necessary compensation in lieu of submerged land would be provided to all the affected farmers.  Now more than 6 years had been passed after forming the BJP government in the centre but the commitment made by them is yet to be implemented.   

In this programme many senior party leaders also spoken and addressed the gathering about the impact and loss sustained to the farmers on introduction of farmers Bills launched by the NDA government.
