Port Blair, Dec. 3: V Rajendran, a lemon fruit seller, located at Aberdeen Bazaar, supports a family of four members that include his wife and two sons aged 19 and 22 years. Being the only bread winner, he was among the worst affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. He struggled to make his ends meet after his stock of fruits totally perished during lockdown. He could not stop tears in his eyes recalling the pandemic time. His family members faced extremely hardships and sometimes survived only on some biscuits for lunch and dinner.
He had lost all his savings and had no hope to bring his life back on track. A ray of hope appeared when he heard about the PM SVANidhi schemes from PBMC Office. He reached the PBMC Head Quarter and applied for micro-credit loan at the facilitated counter.
On the receipt of Rs. 10,000 micro credit facility in his account, he was first able to arrange rations for his family and then re-establish his business by using the capital to purchase fruits at wholesale rate for sale in the market.
Rajendran expresses his heartfelt thanks to the Administration for salvaging him from his dreadful situation and for providing support when he needed it the most.
