Car Nicobar, Dec. 4: The District Road Safety Committee Meeting was held today at the Chamber of DC Nicobar and was chaired by Shri Kishore Kshirsagar Laxman, Deputy Commissioner Nicobar.
At the outset Shri Rajeev Kumar briefed the official members and the institutional/individual members about the importance of the meeting.
The meeting was organised for the purpose of strengthening the effective enforcement and Road Safety Measures in the District. The road accident cases of the district are analyzed to ascertain the cause of road accidents and related corrective measures, to organise regular education and sensitization programmes and to oversee the implementation of Road Safety Measures. The Committee after discussions deliberated on notification of one way road, speed limits and erection of signage boards, road markings, clearance of bushes on blind turns, repair of damaged roads, repair/fitting of street lights at various locations under Nicobar District.
Shri Rajeev Kumar, Superintendent of Police Nicobar, Shri Anwar Moosa, Medical Superintendent BJR Hospital, Shri Nathaniel Education Officer, Shri Kishore Narayan Executive Engineer i/c, Shri Raji Kumar i/c Electricity Department, Shri John Levi Dy. Vice Chief Tribal Council, Shri Lawrence Mathew Member Tribal Council and all Village Heads of Car Nicobar were present in the meeting.
The other committee members Shri Prashant Choudhary SDPO, Smti Lalitha Tigga BDO and SI Shaji SHO PS Nancowrie were also virtually connected through Video Conferencing from Campbell Bay and Nancowrie Island.
