Port Blair, Dec. 6: To curb the menace of illegal trade of wild life products, the South Andaman Police once again proved their efficiency in curtailing this illegal trade and bringing the culprits in front of law.

On 03/12/2020, a credible information was received at PS Pahargaon that one person is carrying venison at Garacharma near Murdhakhari area. Immediately, a team comprising ASI Murghesan, HC A. Raja, PCs M. Ashok Kumar, Sudip Kumar, Rajesh Prasad, Manorama Hawlader, HGs Karthick and Bhaskar headed by Insp. D. Jagdishwar Rao, SHO PS Pahargaon reached the spot and recovered 203 Kgs of venison from the possession of one person namely P. Sasi Kumar S/o Late S. Pitchai (44)yrs, pvt. worker R/o Garacharma. The said person was booked under Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 and after observing all codal formalities, the seized venison and detained person were handed over to the concerned officials of A&N Forest Department for further legal action. The market value of the seized venison is over Rs. 1 lakh.

The entire operation took place under Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, SDPO SA under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is once again requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
