Port Blair, Jan 4: The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has launched a new scheme namely Dr. Ambedkar Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Class student. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Economically Backward Class (EBC) students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. These scholarships shall be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of State/ Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs i.e. permanently settled.

The scholarships will be open to Indian national belonging to General Category (Other than Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Classes) and the total income from all sources of the employed candidate or his/ her parent / guardians in case of unemployed candidate shall not exceed Rs. 1 Lakh per annum.

This scholarship scheme has been shifted from offline mode to online mode by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and is available on National Scholarship Portal. All eligible students have been advised to apply online on National Scholarship Portal through url: http://scholarship.gov .in on or before 15th January 2021. The students who have already applied in manual mode shall also need to apply online.
