Port Blair, July 4: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma inaugurated an open prayer hall at Zilla Parishad, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Shore Point today.

The inauguration function was initiated by the lighting of lamps and a welcome song was presented by the students of the school. This was followed by a welcome address by Smti. Dhana Rekha, Zilla Parishad Member, Shore Point Constituency.

The Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, Smti. Pramila Kumari spoke about Swami Vivekananda and followed her Shri. Vishwasji Lapalkar, Vivekananda Kendra, Kolkata also spoke a few words.

Addressing the gathering Member of Parliament expressed his happiness as he spoke in detail about the newly inaugurated open prayer hall for the students of VKV school.

Recalling his last visit to the school for a function, he said there was a requirement that was kept before him requesting for a prayer hall for the students. He said he remembers his immediate response was that he will fulfil this demand for this beautiful purpose using the MPLADS fund. And seeing this Prayer Hall finally constructed and ready to use today gave him immense joy and satisfaction.

He also congratulated the Vivekananda Vidyalaya management as he recognized and praised the school for being one of the top performing schools of the Islands in providing quality education to the students.

He added that the education that’s provided here encourages the parents to send their children to VKV believing in the betterment of their future by studying here under the hard working and passionate teaching faculty that’s present there.

During his speech Sharma also spoke about the life motivating & changing teaching and preaching of Swami Vivekananda.

After the speech by the Member of Parliament, a vote of thanks was proposed by Shri. Dilkhush Meena, IAS ,CEO Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.

Towards the end of the function Sharma along with the students and other dignitaries present in the event, planted saplings and taught the importance of taking care of the trees and the environment to the young and beautiful minds taking part in this noble initiative.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri. Balakrishna, Pradhan Gram Panchayat and many PRI Members; Miss B. Varsha, Secretary VKV, A&N Islands and other officials of VKV and prominent members of the society along with the school students, faculty and the general public.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
