Port Blair, July 11: The meeting of the CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee held on 9th July, 2022 at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair reviewed the political situation prevailing in the islands. The meeting noted that the BJP-led central government does not give any importance to the burning issues of the people of these islands. The meeting noted with concern that Sangh Parivar is spreading its tentacles in every sphere in the islands.

Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the CPI (M) who reached Port Blair on 9th July, 2022 made reporting on the Political Resolution adopted in the 23rd Party Congress of CPI (M) held in Kannur, Kerala in April, 2022. In the reporting, he mentioned that the 23rd Party Congress had rightly observed as “Despite the alarming rise in unemployment, growing poverty and sharply widening inequalities, the government’s response to the growth slowdown only served to worsen the inequalities in income and wealth. Huge volumes of bad loans taken by large crony corporate groups have been written off and banks recapitalized by using tax payers’ money. This bonanza to defaulting business groups has continued. In the last 8 years of the Modi government, loans taken by corporate worth Rs. 10.72 lakhs crore have been written off.”  He further said that the 23rd Party Congress has observed that “the secular principles enshrined in our constitution are under severe assault…… The principle that the State should stay away from any religious activity have been given a complete go by. This signals the growing reality that the Modi government is moving India towards Hindutva State.”  Shri G. Ramakrishnan asked the party leaders and workers in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to be in the forefront to challenge the authoritarianism of the BJP-led government and communal Hindutva agenda of the Sangh Parivar.

Speaking in the State Committee meeting on 9th July, 2022 and meeting of Party Members on 10th July, Shri Sujan Chakraborthy, Ex-MP and Central Committee Member of the CPI (M) made reporting on the Political - Organizational Report adopted in the 23rd Party Congress.
