Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Directorate of Industries, A & N Administration organized a Local Art and Handicraft Exhibition in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Industries today to display the craftsmanship and a ‘Window of Opportunity for the Indigenous Craft of A&N Islands’. Smti. Veditha Reddy, IAS (Secretary, Industries) A&N Administration alongwith Shri Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary (Tourism) and Special Secretary, Industries and Shri Abhishek Bhukal, Director of Industries graced the exhibition with their presence.

The Secretary (Industries) emphasized on motivating the trainees enrolled in various trades under Directorate of Industries for building a bright career for the trainees. She thanked all the Trainees and Local Artisans/Entrepreneurs for participating in the Exhibition and making it a great success. She also stressed upon conducting more programmes in association with line Department at prominent tourist locations to promote indigenous handicrafts.  Secretary (Industries) also distributed certificates to the artisans and trainees on the basis of product innovation, design and craftsmanship.

In order to encourage the artisans, the Secretary (Tourism) on his visit stated that Tourism Department will provide a gateway to such artisans through various platforms in tourist destinations organized by Tourism Department.
