Port Blair, Sept. 9: In a pursuit to promote common interests in teaching and research, the Industry Institution Interaction Cell (III) of Dr. B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair signed an MoU with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. An institution of global repute, IISc Bangalore is India’s premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education. Its mandate is to provide for advanced instruction and to conduct original investigations in all branches of knowledge which are likely to promote the material and industrial welfare of India. IISc’s research output is diverse, interdisciplinary and cuts across traditional boundaries. IISc, Bangalore with its reputation and pre-eminence has been selected as an Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Government of India, and consistently figures among the top Indian institutions in world university rankings.

The MoU shall include the process of cooperation in education, research and development activities between the two technical institutions in respective regions, with the intent to promote research collaboration that will be of interest to local needs, with a special thrust on to the farming community.

MoUs with leading Industry Organizations, other INIs viz. IIT Kgp, IITM, IIT Bombay for fostering and supporting students training, internships, SWAYAM-MOOCs and applied research are already in place.

These kinds of linkages with industries and INIs has been a powerful propeller of growth for the dynamically changing learning landscape and bridging the digital divide being in these remote Islands.
