Port Blair, Sept. 11: South Andaman District Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2022 was organised by South Andaman District Chess Association (SADCA) in collaboration with PLA Creek Resort Chouldari under the aegis of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) on Saturday the 10th September 2022 at PLA Creek Resort, Chouldari, near Veer Savarkar Park.
The tournament was inaugurated by Smti.Pramila Kumari, Adhyasha, Zill Parishad, South Andaman by making the ceremonial move on the top board to kickstart the event.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, IGP Law & Order was the chief guest for the closing ceremony while Shri Vishal Jolly, National Executive member BJP graced occasion as the guest of honour who gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
Around 100 players participated in the District Level Tournament, which was held in rapid mode over six rounds in which R Kashthuri Bhai was the winner, Yuvan Singh stood second, Anugrah Nair third while V Poursotham & J S Virat stood fourth and fifth position respectively in the open category who were awarded with trophies, cash prize and certificates.
Apart from open category two best players each in boys and girls from Under 09, Under 11, Under 13 and best youngest players were also awarded with trophies and certificates
