Port Blair, Sept. 12: A meeting to form the Reception Committee for the Andaman & Nicobar State Conference of CITU was held at Hotel ACC, Port Blair today (11.09.2022). A large number of workers representing various unions attended the meeting. 

Addressing the meeting B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee explained in brief the anti-working class attitude of A&N Administration towards the demands of daily rated and contract workers, working in various departments under the Administration. He said that the Administration does not honour the orders of the High Court in the matter of grant of 1/30th of pay plus DA benefits to daily rated mazdoors on the basis of the Govt. of India’s order of 1988.  Addressing the large gathering of workers, Shri D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU, A & N State Committee criticized the BJP-led central government for taking away the rights of working class in the country to appease the corporate friends of the Modi government. He said that the promises made by the BJP during the elections in 2014 and 2019 have been turned out to be hollow and worthless. All walks of people are suffering due to the wrong policies of the BJP government. Unemployment and job loss in the country are increasing rapidly and the Modi government has completely failed to find any solution to the problems of the people. Shri R. Surendran Pillai, President, CITU State Committee, who preided over the meeting explained in brief the details of the State Conference and sought the cooperation of all the workers in the Islands. 

A Reception Committee for the successful holding of the CITU State Conference scheduled to be held at Port Blair on 26th and 27th November, 2022 was formed in the meeting with Shri P. Sathyapal as Chairman and Shr SP Kalairajan as Secretary. The meeting also formed various Sub Committee under the Reception Committee. Shri SP Kalairajan and Shri SB Bhattacharjee also spoke on the occasion.
