Students Show Keen Interest to Learn the Do’s and Don’ts on the Topic

Diglipur, Sept 13: An awareness Programme on the topic “Internet behavior and Cyber Crime” was conducted today by Andaman & Nicobar Police at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sita Nagar, Diglipur. The Deputy Superintendent of the Police Shri Manasvi Vashishth was the key speaker on this occasion.

Addressing the adolescent students, he said that with the launch of the 4 G services in the Islands, the connectivity has improved a lot and the use of the Internet has also increased to the maximum, among the youth. With the improved virtual connectivity, the cases of cyber-crime have also increased. He cautioned the students to be cautious while using internet.

Explaining the thumb rule, he asked the student not to respond to any strangers on social networking sites and never share their personal details to anyone. Emphasizing on Behavioural aspect he said, it is not difficult for the cyber experts to get to know about your area of interest, by simply watching your interaction, while you are on Social Networking site. So the net users should follow the cyber ethics and they have to be very careful while responding on Net. In the case of getting victimized, he suggested the students to bring it to the notice of their parents or guardians first and then approach Police without delay.

An alumnus of the prestigious IIT Kharagpur, Shri Manasvi Vashishth asked the students to make proper balance, when it comes to budgeting time in their daily life. Too much of Internet use, may have its negative impact on their health, psyche and personality.  They should make better use of Internet for their studies and not get tempted to respond to the alluring offers of promising financial gain.

The Station House Officer, Shri Stalin addressing the students said that the cases of On-Line gambling in the Diglipur region is on a rise in the recent past. He cautioned the students not to get involved in these unlawful activities. He also advised them to stay away from drugs.

Earlier welcoming the guests, the Principal-Incharge, Shri S. Santosh Kumar called upon the students to make best use of the session and make people of their locality aware of the Cyber-crime. The Programme was coordinated by Smti R. Bindu. Around 100 students of class XI and XII of the school participated in the programme.
