Port Blair, Nov. 10: Former Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray today called upon the Chief Secretary today and raise the issue of non-payment of salaries to the DRMs posted in the Zilla Parishad South Andaman.

Bishnu informed that the South Andaman Zilla Parishad engaged a number of persons on Daily Rated basis due to shortage of regular staff and the DRMS are executing the work to the satisfaction of the higher authorities. However, it is reported that around 35 DRMs are not getting their wages from the last three years.

Theses staff are fully dependent on the minimum wages paid by the department to run their homes. Now, they were forced to take loans from various sources to run their home. There is no specific reasons made to justify non-payment of a working staff.

Bishnu requested the Chief Secretary to look into the matter sympathetically and take suitable action on the above line and issue suitable direction to CEO, South Andaman, Zilla Parishad to ensure the above payment on time bound manner.
