Port Blair, Nov. 15: Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A&N State Organising Committee, who is currently on a tour to Middle & North Andaman, visited the Dr Rajendra Prasad District Hospital, Mayabunder on 14th Nov 2022 and met the Medical Superintendent. He discussed the various issues pertaining to health care system in Mayabunder area. Shri Ayyappan expressed concern over the shortage of medical officers and nurses in the hospital. Posts of Specialists are lying vacant in the hospital and no effort has been made by the Health Department to post Specialist doctors.
He had also visited Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Mayabunder and came to understand that there is shortage of a large number of teachers in the school. Most of the schools in the Mayabunder area do not have Principal or Vice Principal.
On getting complaints from the fishermen that ice for the fishermen are not available in the Ice Plan of the Fisheries Department at Mayabunder, he visited the Ice Plant and office of the Fisheries Department where it was found that the department has failed to meet the requirements of the fishermen of Mayabunder area. The fishermen also complained to the CPI (M) Secretary that they are not getting any benefit from the Fisheries Department.
