Port Blair, Jan 1: The National President of Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA), Shri. Abhay Kumar met the Hon'ble Minister of State, Health & Family Welfare, Government of India along with the delegation of IPA during the visit of the Minister in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

While discussing the matter related to the Pharmacy profession, the delegation handed over the two letters with the points to be taken up by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. In its letter IPA requested to take up the following steps for the betterment of the Pharmacy Profession in India.

1) Constitution of Pharmacy Section under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

2) National Register of Pharmacist, which shall include the database of all registered Pharmacists.

3) Entry grade of Rs.4600/- (VI CPC) for the Pharmacist under government with promotional avenues up to the post of Deputy Director of Pharmacy in the entire Nation.

4) Immediately inclusion of Pharmacists for the Community Health Officer posts as mentioned / recommended under the National Health Policy 2017.

5) Securing jobs for the Registered Pharmacist in the Industrial and Academia.

6) Re-constitution of all State Pharmacy Councils where elections are not held for the last 5years or more.

7) Uniform fee structure for registration and renewal of Pharmacy registration.

8)  Discourages Online Pharmacy.

9) New openings / job opportunities for B.Pharm & Pharm D graduates in different competitive exams / recruitments.

10)  Strengthening of Drugs Control Department with constitution and recruitment of sufficient graduate Pharmacist under Drug Control department in all the states of India.

11)  State and UT Pharmacy Councils must be established in every state for the benefit of Pharmacists residing in their respective states. Moreover, ensuring the posting of Pharmacy Inspector by all the State Pharmacy Councils for enforcement of Pharmacy Act, Drugs & Cosmetic Act.

12)  Online processing of the entire procedure viz. registration / renewal or job portal by the respective State Pharmacy Council as pioneered by you in the Gujarat State Pharmacy Council.

13)  Orientation / CME program by the designated agency for the Pharmacist in every state for the benefit of the Pharmacist and health eco system at large. Indian Pharmacist Association, (IPA) is ready to work as the Nodal agency for this.

14)  Active involvement of Pharmacists under the National Digital Health Mission.  

15) Stressing up for the recruitment of Pharmacists under various government and PSU / agencies where recruitment is pending for many years.

16)  Indian Pharmacist Association, (IPA) is ready to work as the Nodal agency for all the AIIMS across India to provide Pharmacists. As of now, many AIIMS have come into different states across the nation after the Central government initiative to provide quality health facilities to the people.

17)  Indian Pharmacist Association, (IPA) is ready to work as the Nodal agency for all the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra, across India to provide Pharmacists. As of now, many Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra have come into different states & districts, across the nation after the Central government initiative to provide quality medicine at an affordable rate, to the people.

In a separate letter to Hon'ble Minister Dr. Bharati P Pawar, it was also requested to accord necessary approval as required by the A & N administration to conduct the recruitment examination for the 28 posts of Pharmacists under DHS, A & N Islands, which was postponed in the month of December.

IPA also assure you that IPA shall remain committed to play its part in the health sector for the betterment of common people of India and believe that Pharmacists and Pharmacy profession will be uplifted under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as per his commitment during our fruitful meeting with him at his office in New Delhi in 2018.

The Minister acknowledge the vital role of Pharmacy in the Health Sector and has assured the delegation of all best possibility for the ministry can do for the betterment of Pharmacy.
