Port Blair, Feb 24: The Model Career Centre (Employment Exchange), Directorate of Employment & Training organised a ‘Rozgar evam Swarozgar Mela’ in the Hall of GSSS Wimberlygunj on Feb 21, 2023. Addressing the gathering during this Mela, the Secretary (Labour, Employment and Training) Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, elucidated that the main objective of the ‘Rozgar evam Swarozgar Mela’ to provide a platform between the private employers and jobseekers and also to disseminate information over various self-employment schemes being implementing by various departments for the benefit of unemployed youth. He instructed the officials of Deptt of Employment to keep a record of participants who are willing to take up self-employment schemes and to provide skill oriented training to the youths in association with the PRI members.

During the course of the fair, the people were sensitised about the various skill development training schemes which are being imparted to the unemployed youths by various Govt. Dept. under A&N Admn. viz Agriculture, Fishers, Industries, MSME, Lead Bank, Rural development, SBI life, Life Insurance Corporation. Private Sector employers TSG Group Prince groups and Manjou island house also participated with various vacancies.

Earlier, Shri P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing the first ever ‘Rozgaar and Swarozgaar Mela’ at Wimberlygunj and appealed the gathering to utilise the opportunity. Shri A Ummar, Member Zilla Parishad also spoke on the occasion and requested to provide a platform for the trained youth to get placement/market. Shri Venkat Ram Babu Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Wimberligunj was also present on the occasion. Altogether 200 prospective rural unemployed youth of Kanyapuram, Wimberligunj and nearby villages were benefited out of the programme and 30 unemployed youth were shortlisted for employment and soft skill training. The programme ended with the vote of thanks.
