Port Blair, Feb 24: A State Level Meeting of Joint Working Group of Departments & Youth and Training of Complaints Officer on the HIV & AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act 2017 was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) on 23rd February 2023. Thirty-Seven Nodal Officers/ Complaints officers representing various departments/colleges attended this meeting and training program.

The training was organized under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS. In his key note address he said that any program cannot be successful without a joint effort. The objective of this training is to understand our responsibilities as a stakeholder and how our joint effort can help us in reducing new HIV infections. Participants were given detailed information on HIV & AIDS (P & C) Act 2017. 

Sessions included Basics of HIV and AIDS, Overview of National AIDS Control Program, Understanding human sexuality and sexual orientation, Stigma and discrimination against People Living with HIV, Understanding the human rights and constitutional rights perspective, Provisions of the HIV and AIDS (P&C) Act, 2017, HIV and AIDS Policy for Establishments, Grievance Redressal Mechanism, Understanding the roles of Ombudsman and Complaints Officer and Reporting Mechanism.

Training was concluded with certificates distribution.
