Port Blair, April 19: The Zonal Fisheries Office in Mayabunder organized an informative awareness programme on the Departmental Schemes and Programs under UT Plan & PMMSY at Fishermen Colony today. The programme was attended by PRI Members, Gram Panchayat, Mayabunder, as well as local fishers and farmers.

During the programme, G. Amalatheeban, Assistant Director of Fisheries, North & Middle Andaman provided a comprehensive overview of each scheme and encouraged participants to take advantage of the benefits available under PMMSY, such as the purchase of motorcycle with ice box, three wheeler with ice box, insulated and refrigerated vehicle, acquisition of deep-sea fishing vessels, construction of fish kiosk, ice plant, and cold storage, etc. He also elaborated on the KCC Scheme for fishermen and fish farmers.

Shri Abdul Nisar, Assistant Fisheries Guard elaborated on the UT Plan Schemes and requested the fishermen to carry life jackets/ring buoys, DAT, and Fishermen ID cards, etc. while venturing into the sea. The Sagarmitras viz. Smti Narsamma and Ms Manju M. Nair also provided valuable insights into the PMMSY scheme.
