Port Blair, April 21: The XXII State School Games & 7th State level competition for CWSN organized by the Education Department concluded today at Netaji Stadium. The Director (Education), Shri Aditya Kumar Jha as the chief guest lowered the meet flag and declared the School Games closed. He also gave away the prizes to the winners and runners of various events organized during the 5-day event. 

Port Blair Zone has lifted the overall championship trophy of the XXII State School Games. Port Blair Zone stood first in the Medals tally followed by Diglipur Zone in second position and Car Nicobar Zone in third position.

The 100 mtrs. sprint for Girls was the highlight of the closing ceremony in which Ishika Roy of Diglipur Zone stood first, Atifa of Wimberlygunj Zone stood second and I.S Bridney of Car Nicobar Zone stood third. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students of GSSS Model and GSSS Girls which impressed one and all present in the Netaji Stadium.

Nancowrie Zone bagged the first prize for the best marching contingent while Wimberlygunj and Rangat Zones bagged the second and third prizes respectively. The individual championship in Athletics for Boys and Girls was won by Rohit Shil of Diglipur Zone and Atifa of Wimberlygunj Zone respectively. Diglipur Zone bagged the first and second position in team championship in Athletics events for Boys and Girls respectively. In team championship in Athletics events for CWSN (Boys), Rangat Zone stood first with 19 points while Port Blair remained second in CWSN (Girls) with 14 points.

Welcoming the chief guest and others present on the occasion, the DDE (Acad./HoO), Dr. Dheeraj Kumar informed about the various events conducted during the 5 -day event in which students from different zones participated with great enthusiasm.
