Port Blair, April 24: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Committee Member, BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI, wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, A&N Administration regarding the pathetic condition of M. V. Swaraj Dweep with a request for immediate repair of Air Conditions.
In his letter, he highlighted a serious problem being faced by the poor islanders, which requires immediate attention.
Ships are considered to be the lifeline of lower middle class family of our Islands. Especially during the summer vacation season, the ship journey between Port Blair, Chennai, Visakhapatnam & Kolkata takes the mainstream and the demand for ship tickets increases manifold.
Due to the ongoing repair works presently being carried out at VSI Airport, the pressure for ship travel in mainland sector has enhanced.
It has been reported that from several people from all corners that the travellers travelling in M. V. Swaraj Dweep which started its journey on 19th April 2023 from Port Blair to Visakhapatnam, have suffered immensely as none of the air conditions were working in the ship.
It was reported that almost every passenger including ladies and children were forced to sleep at the open lounge area. Water scarcity was also reported by the passengers.
The said ship is scheduled to sail from Port Blair to Visakhapatnam on 29th April 2023. Accordingly, Jolly requested that all the air conditioners may kindly be made functional prior to the sailing and adequate stock & supply of water may also be arranged for the voyage.
