Port Blair, June 21: On 21 Jun 23, Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A&N) celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga. The event was conducted in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to share Yoga and Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” with the entire world.

Various events were held by Indian Coast Guard all across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, during the run up and on International Day of Yoga-2023, with active participation of fishermen community, students of various educational institutes, local populace of A&N and NGOs promoting Yoga. Yoga sessions were undertaken at Port Blair, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Ross & Smith islands, Hutbay, Kamorta and Campbell Bay. Yoga sessions were also conducted at remote inaccessible Jadunath Dweep and Shaitan Singh Dweep, named after Param Veer Chakra awardees Naik Jadunath Singh and Major Shaitan Singh. Yoga was performed at these islands as a tribute to the PVC awardee National Bravehearts.

The Yoga sessions held by Indian Coast Guard during IDY-23 celebrations on 21 Jun 23 educated attendees about the heritage of Yoga and importance of ‘Yog’ in ensuring physical, mental and spiritual well-being. The events motivated attendees to include Yoga in their daily fitness regime, as ‘Yog’ can be performed without any equipment, improves lifestyle, keeps the body mind & soul healthy, reduces stress and fosters a sustainable bond with nature.
